Behind every repaired home and renewed hope, there’s a story — a story of generosity, faith, and people working together to make a difference. Home Repairs Ministries’ volunteers bring more than just tools; they bring compassion, restoring not just houses but the lives of those inside. Yet, for every visible act of service, there are dedicated individuals behind the scenes ensuring the mission moves forward.
One of those people is Mallori Hamilton.
Mallori has been a board member with Home Repairs Ministries since the fall of 2024. With a heart for service and a unique skill set, she has found a great fit on the board.
“I have been doing interior design for 22 years now,” she shared. “And I’m in my fifth year of owning my own business, Uncommon Studios. We do a lot of hospitality work — hotels, family restaurants, and retail — along with some performing arts projects and a lot of nonprofit work.”
Her passion for design is deeply intertwined with her love for ministry and giving back.
“I just have a big heart for nonprofits and giving back [to the community]. I love to minister to people specifically by using my God-given talents.”
That heart for ministry extends beyond her professional work. As a single professional woman, Mallori has embraced a motherly role in her mentorship journey.
“I mentor a lot of kids,” she explained. “I’ve had a group of girls that have been in my discipleship group since they were young teens. Now they’re all 25 years old, and we are still doing life together. They’re like my kids, but also like my best friends. It is really unique and sweet.”

Having previously served on the board of another nonprofit, Mallori had to step back to focus on her growing business. But when the time was right, her friends pointed her toward Home Repairs Ministries.
“A couple of gals in my church work in community outreach,” Mallori said. “They asked, ‘We know you’re really busy, but do you have the bandwidth to be on a board?’ and I said, ‘Honestly, this is a good time!’ They told me about Home Repairs, and I thought it couldn’t be more perfect.”

“I just want to help [the ministry] grow, perhaps in some different, out-of-the-box ways, partner with Heather [Home Repairs executive director] in her vision and strengths, and come alongside her,” she said. “I just want Home Repairs Ministries to thrive and flourish — whatever [I can] to help with that!”
As she has settled into her role on the board, Mallori has gained an insider’s perspective on the ministry’s impact.
“Truly, if you need help with something on your property — whether that’s a roof repair, deck repair, ramp, plumbing — they are such a great resource,” she shared. “We just got a specific grant to update [plumbing] for this energy-efficient program and do water-related repairs. So, if you’ve got an old toilet or faucets that are not energy efficient, or water issues/damage, that’s something you could apply for.”
While she may not be directly involved in every project Home Repairs takes on, Mallori has been inspired by the stories of lives changed through the ministry’s work.
