They weren’t sure their baby would make it.
Alexis’ family’s home needed several repairs in order to bring home her son who was medically fragile. It was a blessing to make the repairs needed to allow them to all live safely together again. Here’s Alexis’ story in her own words.
“I would like to give the biggest ‘thank you’ all the volunteers who came out — not once but twice — to help me and my family with repairs in my home.
“These past two years have been so hard with my youngest spending his first two years of life in the hospital. I reached out to Home Repairs Ministries in hopes of having the outlets fixed in my living room, since that’s where my son would be when he finally came home. The outlets were very loose, making me so worried because my son depends on electricity to run the ventilator and oxygen that helps him breathe. I also asked about having my children’s bathroom floor replaced.
“They reached out to me, and the Home Repairs crew came out and did everything [we needed] and more!
“Fast forward about six months — my son had just come home again after being in the hospital, and it started getting cold out, so we had to turn the heat on. My furnace was making a odd noise, and we found out, not only was very old but it was also dangerous to run — possibly causing carbon monoxide to enter the house. That scared me so much for my children!
“I reached out again to see of any resources Home Repairs might know. Instead they contacted me saying they had a furnace and they would be there to replace it! I was shocked, and I am so truly blessed and so incredibly thankful! To everyone who has come to my home and taken their time to help me and my family: I cannot thank you enough!”
