Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to serve Dorothy. This Gwinnett senior’s yard needs had become more than she could manage. And while we don’t typically do yard cleanup, we were able to partner with a local church’s small group to complete this project. It was heartwarming to hear from her about the difference that it made, and her daughter Sabrina also wanted to share about the experience. Here is Sabrina’s account in her words.

“The presence of kindness has shined on my mother with the help of Home Repairs Ministries and its project manager Clarence.

“I had been searching the web for some time [for help with my mother’s yard], and all of a sudden, there it was: Home Repairs Ministries. The mission statement moved me to reach out because of the ministry’s services for the elderly.

“I was amazed that Home Repairs started with local church members in the Atlanta community and that its story is truly what they stand by. My mother Dorothy saw that concerned people not only met her needs but were also prayerful in doing so.

“In April of this year, Home Repairs Ministries came out to help with what Mom called ‘taking her yard back’. The team started out early in the morning with prayer.

“Clarence coordinated the entire yard team and was very proactive – not only with organizing the volunteers for the project but also in coordinating with me with what essentials my mother needed to refurbish the yard.

“They painted the shed in the yard and made it look new. The team also helped with the hedging and laid mulch where it was needed.

“Home Repairs Ministries is truly a reminder that God is alive and working through caring people.

“This effort to take Mom’s yard back was successful and actually increased Mom’s hope. She used to always say that no one would help her, but Home Repairs proved that not to be true.

“Mom has referred others to Home Repairs and has such a respect for them. She knows that they will be the same blessing to others, just like her experience. As I said to Clarence – you rock, Home Repairs; thank you!”
