He’s young, but his heart for serving is big. We love what volunteer Aaron Innes contributes to our team and the way he cares about impacting other people’s lives. Learn more about him in this Q&A.
How did you first hear about Home Repairs?
One week at Perimeter Church, they were passing out booklets with opportunities for volunteers to join projects in their communities. That’s where I first saw the opportunity to volunteer with Home Repairs.

What made you decide to start volunteering with Home Repairs?
Once I saw the ministry in the booklet and what it is they do, I knew I wanted to be involved. I’d always done community work – through my previous church or various sports teams – and it’s always something I enjoy doing. I like working with my hands to build or create things, so this ministry is a perfect fit for me, because I get to both serve others and help build or create something new. And I’ve now been with Home Repairs Ministry since November of 2021 – about 10 months.
What type of home repairs have you done?
I’ve done a variety of repairs on different projects: flooring, landscaping, deck repair, general cleaning, siding replacement, painting/coating and more.
What difference have you seen Home Repairs make in the lives of those that they help?
It’s really amazing to see that the work we do has such a positive impact on others. It’s also really meaningful, and a blessing, to work alongside a team of faithful men and women who are committed to the good of their communities.
Why is giving – time, money and/or talents – important to you?
It comes down to being a good steward of what I’ve been entrusted with. My time, money and talents are gifts I get to use to bless others, and as a wise man once said, “It is better to give than to receive.”
What do you want others to know about Home Repairs?
No experience is needed in order to start serving or making a difference in the lives of others. The people who volunteer in this ministry are very kindhearted, and you can pick up all the skills you need along the way!
What’s your dream for Home Repairs?
My dream, or vision, for Home Repairs Ministries would be that in five years, it continues to grow, bless others, draw in volunteers from all ages and stages and point all to Christ.
Why should other people consider volunteering with Home Repairs?
There are a lot of great benefits to serving with Home Repairs. First, you get to serve others in a tangible way that makes a visible difference. After each job, you can see the change in the project site and also in the joy of our clients. It’s really wonderful to see people filled with joy and hope after finishing a project for them. Second, the people within the ministry are great themselves. They’re very kind and respectful; getting to know them has been a blessing. Third, this is an opportunity for people to learn real life skills. These skills are invaluable because they stay with you for a lifetime and can be used whenever they’re needed. Lastly, we get Chick-fil-A for lunch!

I currently serve as the executive director for the Chick-fil-A Peachtree at Collier in Atlanta. I’ve been serving in that role for nearly a year and enjoy it a ton. I live with my beautiful wife, Meredith, and our mini goldendoodle puppy, Ollie. We love going on hikes and to dog parks together, and we enjoy traveling to visit family and friends.
