For a long time, life hasn’t been easy for 80-year-old Dorothy. She deals with a number of health issues and is currently awaiting a knee replacement.
Beyond the numerous physical challenges she faces daily, her kitchen’s flooring had water damage, making it unsafe to walk on.
In fact, it had become so unstable that, one day, just walking through the kitchen, Dorothy fell through the floor and broke her arm – a serious injury for someone in her condition.
“It hurts so badly,” she said, “but I’m blessed. Some people can’t get up and walk at all.”
As a single retiree, money is tight for Dorothy.
“I had no other options for having this problem fixed,” she said. “I just didn’t have any money to fix the hole in my floor.”
It was clear that Dorothy couldn’t wait any longer to get the repair help she needed to fix her kitchen floor and basement ceiling. So she turned to Home Repairs. In the past, Home Repairs had built a ramp for her so she knew the value they provide.
Over the course of just one day, Dorothy got both her floor and ceiling repaired by the Home Repairs team. And she’s extremely grateful to the volunteers for the way they helped her.
“Oh my goodness! They made a big difference, and I greatly appreciate every single one of them. Everyone was so nice, they worked hard and diligently,” Dorothy said.
“I am so appreciative of everything they did. They were such a blessing! Thank you!”
