September 2013 eNewsletter - Projects, Projects Everywhere!

As the numbers show, we have been quite busy with projects lately. The great thing about this ministry is that you never know exactly what you’re going to get when the phone rings. It might be a small need, like fixing a leaky faucet, or something that will take you months, like building out a basement to help a family in crisis. Here’s just a sampling of some projects HRM has been working on recently:

  • Helped a very elderly lady in Snellville with several things, including several water leaks, a rusted out sink and countertop, an electrical outlet, a water heater connection, and her broken washing machine.

  • Projects, projects everywhere - pool removalTore down a rotten wooden pool deck in Roswell and loaded it into a dumpster (the pool had been removed years ago - see picture).

  • Worked on several handyman projects at Wellspring Living, from clearing slow drains to appliance repair and building shelves. Wellspring Living confronts the issues of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation through awareness, training, and treatment programs for women and girls.

  • Pressure washed decks and planned for a youth conference at Dream House for Medically Fragile Children (Dream House makes it possible for medically fragile children to live at home instead of a hospital or nursing home). When the planned staining work got rained out, the youth did yard work, mulching and interior trim work. Iron and Fire Ministries helped to finish the deck staining later.

  • Picked up 11 water heaters (donated to us) and gave 7 of them to our faithful friend and partner, Gwinnett Senior Services.

  • Repaired a roof leak in Duluth, patched a ceiling in Johns Creek and patched gutters in Atlanta.

  • Continued building out a basement for a single mother (Tonya) in Dacula. Her adopted daughter, Rylee, experienced kidney failure, stopped producing antibodies and needed a room of her own. Her other adopted daughter, Reagan is also struggling with issues stemming from cerebral palsy. Please pray for them.
