April 2013 eNewsletter - Citation Thrown Out! Relief for an Elderly Family

The Johnsons are an elderly couple who had received a citation for house upkeep issues. The issue had gone to the court, and HRM and several churches intervened to advocate for the homeowner, do the work and try and get the citation thrown out. Gwinnett County Senior Services and their supporting non-profit funded the project.

We can now joyfully report that the citation against them has been thrown out by the judge. In fact, according to the homeowner, the judge had a lot of good things to say about the work that was done.

Here is a summary of what we did:

  • Removed gutters, replaced a lot of rotten wood and 1,000+ feet of wood siding

  • Pressure washed, primed as needed, and painted the whole house

  • Trimmed trees obstructing drivers’ vision & other miscellaneous items

See all the “Before” and “After” pictures below (like the one above). It’s really quite striking! Thanks to all of the churches that helped provide relief to the family:

  • 12Stone Church - Planning & Repairs

  • Mountain Park United Methodist Church - Repairs, Painting & Cleanup

  • Old Peachtree Presbyterian Church - Painting Prep & Pressure washing

  • Perimeter Church - Repairs, Painting  & Cleanup
  • Victory World Church - Painting
